Embark on our vehicle, where we will visit some of Cape Town's iconic land marks of a by-gone era.
We then depart Cape Town as lords and ladies, on the legendary route through to Rawsonville.
We depart from Worcester's train station and go forth on an epic train journey with hip flask in hand through the unique Klein Karoo.
The 2 1\2 hour journey is filled with stunning scenery and classic board games to keep you entertained!
We visit the unique Kirabo wine farm, meeting the wine maker and tasting the local wine and culture.
Arrive in the desert-oasis town of Matjiesfontein! Join on a guided walk of this majestic town that is frozen in time, discovering tales of legends and early settlers. We then take part in Matjiesfontein's own bizarre 'city' bus tour. Fun, quirky...a real treat!
Traditional Karoo lamb braai (BBQ) under the stars followed by an odd night stroll of the weird and wonderful, and guided stargazing! Sing the night away with the local muso's around that old piano!
We sleep the night in original farm cottages situated on Rietfontein nature reserve, 5 min walk from the hotel.
Oupa Batt se Winkel
After a hearty breakfast we head through the scenic and deserted Koo valley, stopping over at family owned Oupa Batt's shop. Here the locals show us how they make their biltong (cured meat) and dried fruit treats.
We indulge in a pairing of farmhouse treats with local "juice", whereafter the family prepare a traditional Potjie Kos lunch for us!
With our bellies filled, we drive through to Montague, stopping over at a local brandy distillery for some quality brandy tasting (subject to availability). Fittingly to The Forgotten Route's legends, we round the tour off with a visit to an old iconic Anglo-Boer war fort.
We then make our way home on the famous R62 route, leisurely, happily and sometimes full of song, to be back in Cape Town by 5 - 6 PM.
